HackerHosting
HackerHosting is a service by ProcoliX created to celebrate ProcoliX's existence on 2024-12-12 of two times 12 years. But also to celebrate that it is owned by the Open Internet Discourse Foundation since 2024: a not-for-profit organisation focussed on a more honest Internet, based on open communications, open standards, open source software and open systems.
HackerHosting is designed for Hackers, whether they gather in hackerspaces, hotels, campsites, opr associations like NLUUG, NLLGG or at FOSDEM. It provides high-quality, 100% open-source hosting from the Netherlands.
How does it work?
HackerHosting is built for hackers who want services that match their values.
We cater to open-source enthusiasts and hackerspace communities -- people who embrace a 'Be excellent to each other' mindset. If you think: "This is cool, I want to be a part of it!" we would love to have you!
1. Hack
If you are not a member of a hackerspace yet? Go and have a look at a hackerspace nearby. It will be fun!
Or go and meet up with a local interest group like NLUUG or NLLGG.
2. Request a VM
Look below at our current offerings and order your own Hackerhosting virtual machine. If there is not an offer that fits your needs, let us know.
Be sure to use one of the available discount-codes. If you don't have one, do not hesitate to send us an e-mail and request one, if you do please let us know why you think you qualify for one.
3. Communicate
Once you get your VM you also get access to our Matrix server. Are you contributing to open source software? Do let us know by posting on the Fediverse using the hashtags #HackerHosting and/or #OpenSource. Please tell us what you have contributed!
Specifications
Hackerhosting started as a quick solution to offer Dutch hackers a well performing non-overbooked machine. Which is why in 2024 and 2025 we only had one size fits all. By now we have some experience so we are offering multiple options.
For now hackerhosting consists of a single Proxmox cluster of 5 nodes. On this we can run at maximum 250 virtual machines for hackers. When there is enough subscriptions we will grow our offering.
